Introduces interested medical students to the greater interventional radiology community at the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting. It recognizes the student author of an accepted abstract that best honors the spirit of inventiveness and scientific purity.

Up to four recipients will receive complimentary registration and a travel award of up to $1,000.

Award criteria

  • The primary author must be a medical student at an accredited medical school and must present the abstract as an oral presentation at the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting (abstract decisions may not have been communicated yet, but applying for this award by the deadline is highly encouraged).
  • The candidate does not need to be the principal investigator of the research project, but must have had a meaningful role in the research.
  • Research must be original and must have been conducted under the guidance of one or more SIR members, one of whom agrees to be present for the oral presentation.
  • To apply for this award, you must submit an abstract for the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting. Only abstracts accepted for oral presentation at the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting will be eligible for SIR Foundation research awards.
